Reviews for Ship Village Seafood Restaurant
Review highlights
Based on 251 reviewsShip Village Seafood Restaurant is noted for its fresh seafood offerings, particularly the standout steam stingray, which many diners find flavorful and unique. The restaurant embraces a homely, kampung-style atmosphere with river views, providing a rustic dining experience that complements its Malaysian seafood cuisine. Customers appreciate the reasonable pricing and generally attentive, friendly service, especially during less busy times. While most dishes evoke traditional home-cooked flavors with minimal MSG usage, some reviews mention inconsistency in preparation, such as occasional overcooked items or less favorable textures. The welcoming, helpful staff and the blend of seafood with vegetable claypot dishes add to its appeal, making it a popular choice for those seeking authentic, village-style seafood meals near the Johor coast.
Homely place. One of the 2 restaurants with diners. One at the pier, and this one is at the entrance. Decided to try this. For those allergic to MSG, good to know I can hardly taste any in their dishes. Most of their dishes are home cooking taste instead of big restaurant taste. The fish and lala that we ordered are very fresh. Very sure it is the same day catch. Environment could be better if have stronger fan.
Their steam stingray is surprisingly good very fresh and smooth, prawn is over cooked, bamboo clams are too hard, doesn't taste good at all. Worth coming back for the steam stingray, will try other dishes next time.
If you like kampung village style zhi char, you may want to visit this restaurant! Ship-like dining areas with rural river views. The food is good too not just seafood as the name suggests but with fibre like claypot vegetables like cauliflower tofu.
Highly recommend this restaurant after finished pray inside the temple. The dishes are delicious, price is reasonable. The lady boss is helpful and friendly.
Reasonable price. The stingray fish cooking is one of its kind, the restaurant speciality. The service is attentive (maybe off peak hours), but nevertheless, the staffs are friendly.
Highly recommended this seafood restaurant. Friendly lady who took our order and recommended their signature dishes. Signature crayfish is so fresh, succulent and big in size. Deep fried squid is fresh with crunchy light batter. The soursop juice is good with fruit pulps. The cook are super fast as the first dish came 5 mins after ordered. So the turnover might be fast. Recommended to make advance reservation as it could be fully booked for dinner.
Take note of the entrance. Walk too fast & you’ll missed it. The staff are very friendly. 1st time having steam stingray. Interesting. Recommended.
Fantastic seafood restaurant . I had the grouper steamed Hong Kong style with mustard leaves. Both were excellent- the fish was large, juicy and very tasty. These staff were great and very friendly and helpful. They have good WiFi but beware it’s difficult to get Grab taxi back to Batu Pahant after visiting the temple. Luckily the lovely staff booked 1 for me so get 6 stars!
